it helps
validate how you are feeling, how your behaviour may be
affected, and also how your body and mind may be
responding. The therapist will be someone independent
from your situation and will be able to be objective.
Psychotherapy can help you make sense of the emotions
that are controlling you, and the experiences that
trigger them, it will strengthen your ability to cope.
your self-esteem and self-confidence should also
increase, helping you to reach your personal potential.
In the early
1980s, Neuro-Linguistic-Programming (NLP) was
heralded as an important advance in psychotherapy and
counselling. NLP is an interpersonal communications
model and an alternative approach to psychotherapy based
on the subjective study of language, communication and
personal change.
Generally
the intent of NLP is to increase choice in the
underlying representations so that the individual has
more choice and flexibility in the world. For example,
recognising the way an individual thinks about a problem
or a positive outcome has an effect on the way he or she
will behave in the world.
How people
think, that is what they see, hear, feel, taste and
smell internally influences their state and how they
will act. NLP is an important influence on my current
practise.
